Breast Cancer

Anything that can later develop into a serious disease has its own risk factors involved. Usually women with high risk factors end up having breast cancer. The specific causes of breast cancer are still to be discovered. It is difficult to know which women would develop breast cancer and which would not. But this is confirmed that bruising, bumping and touching the breast do not cause breast cancer, and it is also not contagious that you might catch it from someone else.

Through the various studies conducted over the years, some of the risk factors have been found out. Among those factors involve the age of the women, and if there had been some one else close in the family who had this problem, there are chances of getting it. Even changes in the menstrual history can also trigger the changes in the breast genes ending in breast cancer. Other factors such as menopause, being obese, or being alcoholic can also end up in breast cancer.

But one thing that has come under observation is that before menopause, women usually don’t suffer from breast cancer. Because, the chances of it increases with the age of a woman. It has been discovered with women above the age sixty most of the time. And the chances of getting a breast cancer if some one in the family had it before the age of forty are higher, regardless that person being on your paternal or maternal side. And if a woman has a breast cancer in one of her breasts, there are high chances that the cancer will also go in the other breast too.

Those women who have changes in their genes should get their thorough check up done from health care providers so as to avoid the dreaded chances of having breast cancer in the future. If someone had their first menstrual period before the age of 12, then again the chances are high, as well as for those women who had been pregnant in a comparatively older age. However, no risks of breast cancer are involved for someone who had the abortion or miscarriage. If you have the slightest doubt of you having any kind of a risk factor, then you should immediately consult the doctor to check you up.
