Depression Symptoms
There are many symptoms for depression, and one should understand what are its signs and symptoms when it comes to being clinically depressed. These are not just the feelings of sadness, but a lot more despair. The primary symptoms of being clinically depressed are that a patient feels constantly sad and this state of mind is along with feelings of anhedonia. These two primary symptoms along with other things are sufficient enough to send an alarm. The other display is of feeling loneliness and emptiness with fear.
This mental state then leads to reduced interest and enthusiasm in doing any activity, including the normal day to day work. A change in the attitude of not taking interest in these every day kind of routine is also something to be made alerted from. With this also comes the loss of appetite or not eating enough as required by the body. On the contrary, one can also eat more food and gain excessive weight.
If the sleep patterns are disturbed, and a state of insomnia is there with irregular sleep timings, then there is one or the other form of clinical depression existing in such a patient. The mood swings will then go from frustration to tiredness, feeling uselessly guilty and being pessimistic. Usually this comes with the loss of self-esteem and a person becomes extremely less confident with lack of focusing ability.
But besides all this, there are other signs which need to be considered before declaring a case for clinical depression. And an extra care needs to be taken when evaluating and diagnosing clinical depression. One of most prominent signs of clinical depression is having suicidal tendencies and imagining that one is dying. This is the stage of the patient that requires the most attention because the person can also seriously harm him or herself in this way.
Other people, especially the adults can use excessive amount of drugs and indulge in a lot of the use of alcohol. This happens mostly when such people are left alone with no one to look after them. Mostly people are difficult to handle if they are suffering from clinical depression, but there is hope in medically taking care of them through various types of useful treatments available.
