FASTING TO LOSE WEIGHT
Obesity is an ultimate result of our inability to control our flesh. In Americans it is getting worse and needs to be controlled by taking some serious actions and approach. Obesity means increased risks of heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, arthritis, many forms of cancer and a host of other ailments.
When we talk about weight problems, we must realize that weight is not the actual problem. In fact, weight is the fruit of the problem. The actual problem is that we cannot control our appetite.
Appetite is directly proportional to weight. The more the appetite is, the more the weight would be. So if the appetite is controlled, the weight is automatically controlled.
Like many other weaknesses and temptations, Food has always been found as one of the weaknesses amongst the humans. One of the most ancient ways to control appetite is fasting.
Fasting is a solution to overcome the food weakness. There was plenty of dieting in the Bible which was called fasting. Fasting is simply the restriction of our usual eating. There are many different ways of fasting, which include a fruit fast, or fast from water, or a fast from flesh, or sweets. Fasting is a restriction of our food, and therefore it may be called a diet.
Fasting can be a real life saver for the obese people. It may be beneficial to lose weight. The power of fasting is not in losing weight during the fast, but in gaining control of your appetite, which is the REAL problem. For example, a fast from water may help in losing an average of 1 to 2 pounds daily. But that is not the total truth. Fasting can actually make you fatter.
Let’s see how? During a fast, the body starts burning its own fats. Some chemical compounds, which are called ketones, are released due to this fat burning. This is the reason of “bad breath” as the medical science claims. But actually it is M.E.S.S. rather than ketones. As the body burns fat, eliminates M.E.S.S. and cleanses itself, two things occur that may result in fatness.
